POETRY IS WHAT THE SOULS OF THE ANCIENTS SPEAK TO THOSE STILL SEEKING WHAT IS MOST BEAUTIFUL IN THE WORLD. FROM: LINDA

Can and Can’t (Love You)

A very long chain of challenges won,
With effortless grace you open the door,
No aspect of you would I choose to shun.

But hate takes hold as you pay an old score,
You’re now sin-stained by what you’ve done,
The result? I can’t love you anymore.

Heeding The Sea’s Energy

What is the music of the sea?
It must be there,
because it calls to you,
and it calls to me.

To step upon the decks of ships-
tall, with sails billowing,

below a brightly lit sun,
against a wind, at times squalling
or, again, a cool breeze.

Ships that carry us
into our dreams,
and there,
the music of the expanse
becomes the sirens’ call,
to point the way
to dreams in triumph as life.
