The Peace of my Heart
That certain part of me you took when you left,
Pieces of my heart that I gave to you,
Hold on to them and keep them very close
Until we have the chance to meet anew.
Kept safe in your quiet haven below,
Colors of love from an artist’s palette,
Gifts with loving quality you well know,
Within the ark you alone inhabit.
Gifts keeping memory of me alive.
I do not miss what I bequeathed to you,
Knowing that where you are you would need them.
My love and peace given to you so true,
The best parts of me borrowed for a time,
We will in future share on the other side.
Thank you to Herojit Philem of Literary Garland for writing a review of my chapbook "Red Is The Sunrise."

Red is the Sunrise is a book comprising of 30 poems written by Linda Imbler. The book opens with the poem titled Theros Bequeathes Her Breath to Carpo and closes with the poem titled A Backyard Incident in St. Loius. In a sentence, Red is the Sunrise is a collection of poetry by a woman about women.
Poems of this collection are loosely structured i.e., to say the lines of the poems are not of equal length, some lines are of 13 syllables while some are of 2 syllables. But poems would give a vivid picture to the readers. With beautiful beginnings and at the same heart capturing endings, Linda Imbler's poems in Red is the Sunrise would give a pleasant thought and at the same time would leave the readers nostalgic.
In the poem, “Her Movie Script” the speaker’s grandmother sits on a chair recollecting every moments of her life. The poem ends with “If only she could remember the names of the actors.” Again the poem “Last Day” opens with “We got up so early with so much to do.” This opening line is full of live and energy; throughout the poem the activeness can be felt. The characters are so active, so much involved in worldly live that they bought each other a gift but gave not of their time. But the closing of the poem would leave a reader in the state of suspense as it says “Only one of us rose the next morning.”
There are many heart touching lines in every poem. A line from poem Warpaint one would get motivated by “………., I am confident I will win both the battle and the war.” While a line from the poem Silent Meal, “Their relationship did not die with shouts and tears” would give the power to have patience in a relationship and at same time a line from Mama Evans, “Many things we remember today with a sigh” would definitely leave the readers recollecting many things sweet sorrows of the things past.
Some of my favorite poems in the book includes:-
1. Her Movie Script
2. Last Day
3. Memory
4. Poe’s Annabel Lee
5. Puzzle
6. A Cup of Tea
7. The Forgotten
All in all the book Red is the Sunrise is multi-faceted with its various feelings that would leave to the readers. The book is worth reading. It has lots of literary values. Poems are not very long but with minimal length each poem coveys the complete ideas, feelings and emotions are expressed to reach the readers.

The Rumor Diet
A bulging stomachful
of high calorie vitriol.
Tables bowing under the weight of envy,
like too many books on a shelf.
Tables laden with too much, too much
disgust for others.
The high fat content of hate,
an overindulgence of anger
within the fare.
No restrictions,
the gobbling of swill,
sour, composed of trash talk.
The slurping of suggestion,
without fact.
perhaps implying“Somebody” said”,
or thinking it coy to add, “If it’s true,”
at the end of each unsubstantiated statement.
A regular fare
of amusement and surprise,
again without certitude.
Minds and hearts nourished by exaggeration,
loving the taste of scuttlebutt,
licking up the drips of innuendo.
The greediness of fiction,
that although lighter,
still weighs down the grapevine.
A newly reformed person’s regimen
of admiration and interest.
Energy units utilized to see
the vibrancy of life and of others.
Now, watching one’s weight,
burning off what does not belong on the body,
with the exercise of being grateful.
Careful with what gets put in the mouth
(or the ear)
and what comes out of the mouth.
Fat free of gossip and tattling! So slender!
So confident in the abstinence
of deep-fried jealousy.
An appetite for awe,
slimming the body
and lightening the heart.
A thirst for trust,
a mouthful of adoration,
nourishment for the soul.

Say Cheese
“Say Cheese!” my best friend told me,
in that quirky way she would whisper,
right before the photographer snapped the eighth grade class picture.
Before the prints could be returned, her family abruptly moved out-of-state.
I hope she has had the most hair-raising opportunities,
such grand hair-raising experiences to match those we survived
during most of that school year.
But more than that,
I wish for her to have had many beautiful, joyful ‘say cheese' moments
throughout all her seasons and in the many lands
to which she wished to travel;
on a beach covered by sand up to her waist as her skin turned pink,
wearing snow shoes and thick parkas while walk gliding across an ice glacier
as her nose dripped,
atop a camel before Giza
feeling as if she would be bowlegged for eternity
after the dismount,
wedding day cake cutting,
post birth photos as a new mom,
family reunions,
graduations, both hers and those of family and friends,
her eighth grade heart still intact.
Sad Passing Youth
The best of friends, all so close.
Six different cities sent these sons and daughters
to this place, at this time,
to the Nexus, the axis, the center,
where hearts met and became glad,
concordance almost spiritual,
differing talents, dreams and hopes, but many the same.
We had each other's backs,
took meals together with no worries of tomorrow,
or that we might ever part for the last time.
For then it was enough for the moment to share bread,
to listen to each other's tales,
learn of each other’s lives,
to speak of the world and its meaning, for us, then.
Although summers were spent apart,
with letters flying back-and-forth,
the autumn brought a reunion of mirrored hearts and minds.
Open-minded, fearless youth;
you taunted us,
and pulled us into a safe cocoon, assuring lasting calm.
We, as those before us and those to follow,
fell prey to your temporary charms.
How we resent, yet long for you at the same time,
You are not the peaceable condition you professed to be
at that long ago time.
None will be wiser than we,
Not until they are as we are now,
but let them enjoy, and revel, today,
for sadly, passing youth is all too brief.
