Movie Star

How can I know,
while the sun and moon
shift height and bright,

that you will not alter
and become other than
what you were yesterday?

I will know you are my actor
when the reel I see
plays the same
each time it rolls.

I will know you are my constant
when I can take stock of your lines
and be convinced they are not being spoken
as the voice of a ghost.

Stay with me and speak only truth.
Stay with me and comport yourself
in honest form.

Let the heavenly bodies reverse themselves instead.
